Fractal Dimension Analysis to Detect the Progress of Cancer Using Transmission Optical Microscopy

Fractal dimension, a measure of self-similarity in structure, is powerful physical parameter for the characterization structural property many partially filled disordered materials. Biological tissues are fractal nature and reports show change associated with progress cancer, resulting changes their dimensions. Here, we report that dimension measurement potential technique detection different stages cancer using transmission optical microscopy. Transmission microscopy thin tissue sample produces intensity distribution patterns proportional to its refractive index pattern, representing mass density distribution. We find universal feature. Many deadly cancers difficult detect early due hard-to-reach location organ and/or lack symptoms until very late stages. To study these cancers, microarray (TMA) samples containing analyzed pancreatic, breast, colon, prostate cancers. The method correctly differentiates progressive raising possibilities physics-based accurate diagnosis detection.
